Celebrated on the full-moon day of the Hindu month of Sravana (July/August), this festival celebrates the love of a brother for his sister. On this day, sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers to protect them against evil influences, and pray for their long life and happiness.
History: It is said that the festival gained popularity after Rani Karnavati, the widowed queen of Chittor, sent a Rakhi to Mughal emperor Humayun when she was in need of his help. It is also believed that Draupadi tied Rakhi to Lord Krishna.
Although, there is not any specific rule for when to remove Rakhi from brothers hands. there is not any written scriptures present in the Vedas also. we can remove it anytime, but if you follow Maharashtrian traditions, we can remove it on the 15th day from Raksha Bandhan
As COVID 19 IS AFFECTING OUR LIVES- so make sure you buy the rakhi few day before the event and keep it away from almost 24 hours. Remove the package, and sanitise it well before tieng on the brother's hand.

Know the astrological significance behind special threads
1. Sisters prepare the puja thali with diya, roti, chawal, rakhi thread and sweets. The ritual begins with prayers, then a sister ties rakhi to her brother with best wishes. The brother acknowledges the love with a promise to stand by his sister through all the good and bad times.
