The ability
to speak freely and to think and to obtain information freely without any fear
of restriction by the governments is my essence of freedom of speech. It is through freedom of speech only;
citizens can act freely and grow as a successful individual both in career as
well as in moral terms.
In India,
the Constitution assurance frees speech but not the right to hurt somebody's
feelings.
Freedom to
speech can easily term as freedom to express. It is every individual right to
understand, to feel, to say or to inform anything that he/ she want to. It is a
fundamental right that is a touchstone of all the freedom and liberty to which
country governs.
According to
my psyche, freedom of expression is very essential in enabling the democracy to
work and grow. It is actually a fuel for decision making and not pushing anyone
in the despotism. When we can access our right to vote, taking part in public
writing or simply doing blogging at home, it is all about freedom expression.
Freedom of
expression not only important for building someone’s dignity, but also grows in
accountability and democracy
But freedom
of speech is not just full proved weapon to grow and increase our
accountability in nation, but violation in this right also goes hand in hand.
Here in this
article I have come up with few pros and cons that are associated with Freedom of Speech.

On the one
hand when we see lots of opportunities and growth that are coming with freedom
of expression, we can too clearly see the threats and fears that are emerging
too. The biggest examples here will the role of “Media”.
1. Freedom to control:
We all
clearly remember that during 1990s, there is a freedom of expression that was
put on the higher level via computerization in our day to day live. The way we
live, the way we work or simply we conduct our self in the society. Internet
has made it so easy to communicate with the world without much barrier. It is
called “freedom of expression”. When we open our facebook page and can have a
access on any page of the country and person and can express our thoughts, it
is called freedom of speech, but within the parameters of responsibility and
lawfulness.
We will be
surprise it know that freedom of speech has go through most difficult test to
approved its authenticity and need in every individual life, taking care of the
peace and harmony.
When we talk
about freedom of speech as an fundamental human right, we have to consider
authors, bloggers and designers that create and offers thoughts to others with
this right to share their words. We have
to understand one more thing here. Here these personals are using freedom of
speech, but on the same time, they can too control there created content by
others as a form of copyrights. It is here called right to control. Here we can
see right to speech and right to control hand in hand.
2. Freedom of speech and Ethics:
Rights
always comes duties. When we say that we have a right to speech, we have to
understand that it is always our duty to give that space to another one to
enjoy him/ her freedom other than you. To go further, I want to add one example;
any person can abuse anyone by using the term that it is “freedom of speech”.
But here we have to understand what and where our boundaries are.
3. Freedom of Speech and Media:
Media is a
powerful tool that comes with newspapers, facebook, blogging or twitter. If we
can use freedom of speech here, it can surely do the miracles. But if misused
this right it will cause harm and destruction. We all know that tool can never
ve harmful or useful, it is all about us how we use it. A knife can be use to
cut the vegetables and safe out time and that same knife can also misused to
murder someone. It is all about how we take it.
Freedom of
speech can either make a difference- good or bad. Media approach is very wide
and can connect to large number of people. So we have to understand that the
approach the media is taking must be in human goodness. It will give a big
impact on people mind.
With such authority
come immense errands as well, and to construct certain these responsibilities
are met a quantity of laws had to be laid downward to keep a good check.
4. Freedom of Speech and Laws:
Laws clutch
an immense importance to uphold poise and a sound civilization and are mainly in
charge for maintaining the attained freedom. Laws are prepared to defend the
rights of persons, or group’s income in a society. System and regulations help
set a frontier to an extent till which persons or groups customary in the
society can obstruct others autonomy, be it freedom of speech, expression or
any other kind of liberty that an human being or a group of public can perhaps
have.
Freedom has forever has its worth, be it in
any shape, responsibility is the outlay that is and be supposed to be salaried
to preserve its factual spirit.
