Offices Calling Us: Days After Lockdown

Hello and welcome to my new blog- Office after lockdown!

Well unlock 5 is approaching and I am sure many of our offices are opening too. And we are not at all want this to extend now. I hope you agree with me. I really had enough of this sleep, pyjama love, free time, mopping time, kitchen food food, and so on an on. And seriously, now my back aches.

I have gain so much of weight.  I stop taking care of my hairs. I stop going to cinema halls or shop good stuff for me. So do anything that gave me happiness prior to march 2020.

Not just going out- lockdown bring so much pressure of cooking, cleaning the house daily, organising the stuff in correct order etc etc etc that I usually avoid taking office excuse.

Days inside the 4 walls of the house was depressing. and I am all ready to get out and meeting the sunshine ( and getting tired again)

Many of us have started going to the office, especially those who aren't in the red zone. Some workplaces have started operating with employees coming in a staggered manner; though all workplaces are taking every precaution to protect the employees from any possible harm, yet the fear of getting infected remains.

I still remember, this lockdown starts from 22 March 2020 ruining my birthday and all my plans! We stayed at home, cut cake there, bake some pizzaa and dance at our dinning room! Well, it was not that bad as long as my husband was on too enjoying the home quarantine thing. But eventually he began going to his bank, and my honeymoon days finished- making it more like " Main aur meri tanhani, aksar ye baatien karti hai".

March I am sure was the best time of my life when we stay at home and having our full salaries. I throughly enjoyed it. I was really not in the mood to get terrified with COVID 19 virus.

So, in this blog- I am writing few of my expectation of the day after lockdown, when we all resume our work!

Your office job/ or your life  will never be the same - here's what to expect!

  • Early Wake Ups
In the recent study, I have read in one of the articles by Times Now that "Work from home is making 67% Indians suffer from sleep deprivation, says study". It actually happened with me too. I started working out late in the night so that I can save time in the moring. I started working till 2-3 am at night and wake up at 10 am. In the beginning, it makes me so happy, like i am  my own boss. But gradually I am realising that my routine gets ruined.  Now after 7 months of lockdown, it will be very difficult for weeks to make my sleep routine come back to normal.

  • Early Grooming

Well, next in the list is the early grooming process. During the lockdown- we preferably mark our attendance in our pyjama prior going of doing anything.  We hardly take shower, or comb our hairs. We just open our whstapp group and mark our present.
Don't judge me!
But bad part is that now as offices are opening- we are supposed to do all that before leaving our sweet home!
But i am sure, after few days- we will enjoy  it!

  • No more Pyjama
Well yes, the pyjamas and shorts that we wear whole lockdown need to keep as a night dress only.

We need to dress up nicely in formerly now.

The lifestyle shift that is underway due to the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world of fashion. People have found many ways of adjusting to the new normal and have created chic style trends to make working from home a seamless, comfortable and productive experience. The outfits that we used to wear in the past have made it to the back of our closets.

But not more guys!

Better make a week clothes ready before resuming your work. You will hardly get a chance to choose garments in the morning.

  • Long Metro Travel
The worst part of getting back to work, or I would say the only thing that i don't like about it is metro travels that is filled with people and the time it takes in commuting from my house to work and back!

It's really irritating!

Daily metro travel is an ordeal of sorts. We hang on to the handles, in an endless pursuit of a seat. And as soon as we see a minuscule seat space on the bench peeping through the thighs of two people, we never hesitate to ask, “Can you please shift?” No one minds, or better, no one should mind. We all have the same plight; no one wants to reach office or home with aching backs and legs, a stressed out temperament and a tired mind.

Do you know, as per one of the article from TOI says that "Serotonin is a brain chemical that can have a profound impact on your mood. Dr Sameer says that travelling daily in overcrowded metros can lead to a drop in the level of serotonin in your body making you feel pessimistic, worried and delving into the negative of ‘what ifs’."

But trust me, having a feeling of traveling from metros after so long making me happy!

  • Being On Time
Being on time is the biggest struggle of Working from office. On the one hand, we all were enjoying customised working hours WFH, on the other hand, lockdown after ruining our routine expect us to back to normal and reaching office sharp on time.

When you show up for work on time and are diligent about your attendance, you increase the chances that your supervisor or manager and your peers and co-workers will view you as someone who is committed to your job and responsibilities.

Yes, it is important!

But, if your office is expected to open in few days, trust me start preparing for it from TODAY!

Make a rotten and follow it!

Reaching office before time also helps in enhancing your relationship with your colleagues.

  • Samosa Party

Next in the list is the samosa party, that you enjoy after reaching home or after having lunch. Samosas are affordable and available to every office ( That I dont know how).

Office parties are always fun, provided that either you or your colleagues don’t mess up the eating with absurdity. I still remember days when we used to order samosas from swiggy and waiting for them till our tea arrives. Usually our day always start like this.

But yes, this is the one thing that I am surely waiting! But I don't know due to COVID 19, will be resume or not!

  • Waiting For Weakends

Lockdown has changed the very idea of the leisurely weekend. Work hours seep into leisure, and housework intrudes into the work-from-home hours. When every day feels the same, what is the difference between Sunday and Monday?
Logging off on Friday evening feels very different now.

As quarantines and lockdowns force people to stay at home for work and leisure, weekends are being redefined. Work hours seep into leisure, and housework intrudes into the work-from-home hours. When every day feels the same, what is the difference between Sunday and Monday?

I really miss this feeling!

I am sure, coming back to office will give me back that love for weekends again.

  •  Boring Meeting

The physical impact of coronavirus is visible, but it’s critical not to ignore the mental health consequences. A survey by US-based anonymous professional network Blind reveals that 56.4 percent of employees, across biggies like Facebook, Google, and Apple, are facing anxiety and loneliness.

Well yes, Trust me- the boring meeting that we have in the office, I started missing them!

  • Hating HRs
We hardly love our HR! They irritates us, ask us to be on time, be in formals, never approves our leaves and never ever hike our salaries!

But the strange thing is that, I actually missed her!

During the WFH, there was NO one to gossip about! ( wink)

  • No More Half Salaries

Including mine, the salaries was halved for many, I guess, after may 2020. It was pathetic. High productivity, less gossip, but no work-life balance !

But the best part is that now that we will resume our office, we can have our full salaries, leaves and lots of free time at our work place!

  • Request For Leaves

What is the point of taking leave when you’re just going to be sitting at home anyway?"
I am sure many of us have heard this during WFH.
That sounds great on paper, but actually, the work-from-home burnout is real. Boundaries between work-time and personal time are very blurred right now... there is no end to the workday. At the same time, certain things are more fatiguing.

But now, when we are going back to the office, I am sure we will enjoying taking leaves and waiting to get it approved (wink).

  • Meeting Partners After Day long

Next in the row is my personal favourite.  Meeting your husband/ wife after  tiring day at evening is romantic rather than staying them all day long! Well, i am not talking about weekend, I love being like this.

But still, its feel good to come back home and have a tea and a dinner together and discuss the day with each other. It was surely a miss point during WFH

I am surely looking ahead after the lockdown!

Work-from-home is nice, but the office wants you back!

Overall, people may want to work from home, but companies are unlikely to be receptive to the idea in view of their desire to perpetuate a common work culture, and their worries about privacy issues and data security.

And employees too missing the old routine and their tea!

I hope you like my blog! Keep updated, and share love!
