Go Clown: #AccheDin for Comedy by Shatrugna Vadwlas

The book with its title itself makes you dig in deep and know what is the book about. 

The cover itself is so amazing and catchy. This book is one long read, but to mention a good one. This book is a humorous account of the life of an Indian student. It is a book with intelligent humor. It targets almost every aspect of life – paid media, education, caste, creed, hypocrisy of NRIs, etc. The language is simple and easy to comprehend. However, I did find some serious grammatical errors, but in the light of a good plot they can be ignored. I found it quite engaging overall. The subject is tackled intricately by the skillful author.

Words usage is fabulous. At times I felt I was confused but it makes sense slowly and steadily.

Go Clown is hilariously amazing journey of Kiriti from College to Job, Ganga to Ganja, Fun to Ragging. Author has brilliantly penned down the simple events of our life in sarcastic way. And finally with the Mystical Game which casts a shadow on Kiriti’s life having been won, everything is laid to rest under a blanket of white, only to be stumbled upon by a Sherpa on the peaks of the mighty Himalayas that wake up something inside of his adorable son.

I love the concept and plot!

2 Peg ke Baad by Nikita Lalwani

A collection of 14 short stories. The name is itself says it all, but very tempting. Each story has something new to offer. Every story ends with a twist. It gives you a realization of LIFE. Each and every story teaches us something about life. Every emotion is beautifully crafted and represented by the author. I was moved after reading each story. I felt all the emotions which were felt by the persons in the stories. So you yourself can imagine how powerful and beautiful these stories can be. I would say Creativity at its best.

The vocabulary part is superb and you can see how beautifully the author paints the scenic nature in all the stories. The book has a gripping magic that starts right from the beginning. 

The first and last story in a collection of short stories, according to me, should be the best as they set the expectations. A Walk with a Call Girl and Car No. 88 (inspired by a true story) were the first and the last story and both of them were striking.

The different thing about this book is that stories are not written in a very conventional way. You never know when the climax pops and the rest of the story still goes in rhythm, since the use of dates and locations is done pretty intelligently.

The language of the novel is very attention gripping and simple to understand.

Author Interview: Shilpi Chaklanobis!

Today we have here, Shilpi Chaklanobis, the author of Panorama

What were you as a child? 

I was a very shy kid and introvert by nature. I am a voracious reader since my childhood and used to spend hours with my books. I used to live in a campus and we had a beautiful kitchen garden that was full of seasonal flowers and vegetables. I loved spending time in the garden amongst the greenery and lovely flowers.  

 

When did the writing bug strike you? 

It all started with a blog. There was so much that I wanted to share with the world and so I started this blog. Initially I wrote only for it to share my views on various topics but later on I decided to write this book.

 

Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits? 

I always ensure to write in a particular font style and size. If somehow the font gets altered, I make it a point to set it to my preferred style.

 

How has your environment & upbringing colored your writing? 

I grew up in IIT Kanpur. Apart from constantly being surrounded by academicians and people who devoured books by the dozen, the campus was a city within itself. Everyone was very warm and the families who lived there were very tight knit. It created the perfect atmosphere for a young child like me to develop a unique perspective on relationships that further helped me write this book. 

Describe what your ideal writing space looks like. 

A lovely cottage on a quiet hill station surrounded by serene natural beauty.

 

What do you consider to be your best accomplishment? 

I am the kind of person who doesn’t count accomplishments because I believe there’s lot more left to achieve. So if I start keeping track of these, I would cease to grow and achieve new things.

What are your current projects? 

Currently I am working on two novels and both of them are love stories. They are not romantic novels but deal with the complexities of love and how it can change lives for better and for worse.

What's the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book? 

Since all the stories in the book revolve around human relationships, it was more of observation and experience than research that helped me churning out the stories. So for this book, there was not much to be researched online.

 

If you were deserted on an island, which three people would you want to have with you? Why? 

My family: my elder sister Dr. Sujata Chaklanobis, Brother In Law Mr. I. Chakraborty and my darling niece Priya who is more of a friend. Why? Because four of us can find happiness anywhere if we are together even if it is a deserted island.

Panorama: A collection of short stories is a beautiful and nice way to end your day! It is a collection of short stories that is available with many instances of relationship that we usually in our own life! It is simple and very sweet to read!

When I got this novel in my hand, I can predict that it won’t take much time!

On the serious note, the language of the novel choose by shilpi is very engaging and simple! You never feel bored or japed up! You simply pick up the novel and complete one story at a time and feel contended. It is something like many flavors of chocolates packed in one box and you can eat one at a time. And that are all so delicious!

I love the stories as they are so common that we can easily relate to them! They actually express the relationship and family matters very perfectly.

I personally discussed and take a pictures of few instanced of the novels and share with my whatsapp group! They too love that like me!

The language is very appealing and mature to understand the concept that shilpi want to focus on.

The characters of the novels are well developed and you feel connected with them as you read the stories.

The descriptions of the stories very heart touching and you feel like smile and cry with the stories as they go on! I personally feel the depth of the storyline that make me highly contended.

The approach is very fresh and light hearted!

Last but not the least, I love it!

A Broken Man by Akash Verma

A Dalit boy, falling in love with Bhramin young girl is a perfect plot to write on!

On the first look of this novel, I thought it is as like two states but it actually comes to be a big surprise! Yes! I loved it.

The partition of these 2 hearts because of rank and status is horribly buzzword. It is likewise a mirror picture of our general public and it's recognition.

The whole plot of the story makes us doubt our mentality. In spite of the fact that the time the story plays in, is 10 years prior, despite everything it brings up the same issues we confront today.

This sentimental story, spiced with governmental issues, courses through the passageways of a Lucknow college, over the open fields of Bihar and circled into the tumultuous way of life of Mumbai.

There are a few pages in the book that touch our hearts.

Never Again by Shreyan Laha

 To start with I must write that when I get this novel, it apprears very powerful to me! Yes! Powerful is very big word to say for a novel. But the cover is very appealing and name actually turning me on to read this once and get to be acquainted with, what actually it is all about!

Story revolves around the dairy 'Stranded Legend'. Author successfully managed the Past and Present scenes. Questions raised in the first few chapters of the book are answered in the later part with twists and turns. Overall the plot was engaging and story ends with twists and turns.

Language of the book is trouble-free and very simple. We read many german words here and there. That is too a plus point in the novel.  Narration of the book is decent. One liners in the book are worth noting.

Cover: Very powerful to look at.

Editing: Well, according to me editing and little typos are there but you didn’t notice much.

I loved it!

I can read it again in future for sure!

Hey Dad! Meet My Mom... by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal

I love it.
I preferred the way the story started and that the anticipation was developed till the very end. There was no place that the book slacked in pace or need of profundity in the characters (for a short book). The sentimental scenes amongst Puneet and Myra were sufficiently sensible and perhaps charming to a degree. For a 10 year old child, Rishi knows an excessive amount of - I would likely have winced to talk about my adoration life, much alone take exhorts from a child asserting to be my child - that excessively one that known else could see. I could sympathize for Puneet that Rishi could read his psyche.

These three words resounded in my psyche when I wrapped up the highly anticipated novel.
